Pastor Lovell Cannon, Jr.
Lovell Cannon, Jr. is the Pastor and Founder of True Worship Church, one of Detroit's most community-oriented churches. Since 1995, Pastor Lovell's passion for winning souls to the kingdom of God has brought many souls to Christ.
It was in 1981 when Pastor Lovell heard the voice of God and received salvation. He was baptized and holy-ghost filled and matured in Christ with an unmovable determination. While serving Solomon's Temple under the leadership of the late Bishop William L. Bonner -- he served three years with the Board of Ministries, seven years as Elder/Youth pastor of the Armor Bearer Young People's Union.
In the year of 1995 he was led to accept his calling as Pastor and Founder of True Worship Church. He preached his first sermon in his new home the first Sunday in December 1995. Pastor Cannon founded True Life Community Center, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit geared toward community development and outreach.
Serving God in his community, though the church and his beloved city of Detroit, Pastor Cannon is helping to bring his hometown into a more positive light. He lives by his motto, "building bridges to reach youth, seniors and grow strong family morals."
Pastor Cannon attended the W.L. Bonner Bible College and earned a certificate in counseling from Rosedale Bible College.
The Detroit native is married to Lady Tina Cannon, and a father of four children and four grandchildren. He is an avid fisherman who also serves as a doting handyman throughout his home. Most importantly, Pastor Lovell is a man of God who is dedicated to living his life according to God’s principles.
First Lady Tina Cannon
Tina Cannon, First Lady of Detroit’s True Worship Church, a woman of prayer and faith, who stands firmly on the scripture Psalms 27:13-14, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.” She has been a leading authority on nurturing the youth towards greatness for 35 years. As a woman of God who thrives in her Christian walk, First Lady Cannon is a licensed missionary, director of True Life Community Center, and founder of the Youth Summer Program, A.G.A.P.E.
The wife of Pastor Lovell Cannon, Jr, First Lady Cannon has developed and organized several effective youth events, including camps and other programs. In addition to her dedication to the youth, First Lady Cannon is a gospel soloist, choir directress and speaker on health matters – specifically, kidney disease. She volunteers at the hospital with Transplant Living Community, and encourages everyone she can to support Gift of Life Foundation.
First Lady Cannon is a five-year survivor of kidney disease, in which she was blessed to receive a kidney transplant! First Lady Cannon recalls the moments after receiving her transplant, “the song I kept hearing in my spirit was ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness’”.
A native of Detroit, First Lady Cannon has completed several hours of seminary studies at Berea Bible College and Cornell University. She also earned a certificate in biblical counseling from Rosedale Bible College.
The former Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ International Women’s Council Home Mission Vice President, during her tenure she assisted in raising funds for the International C.O.O.L.J.C. Home Mission Department. She was former President for the Michigan Southern Diocese Women’s Council. Her purpose was to help meet the needs of the women spiritually.
First Lady Cannon’s heart is working with the women of God, along with coordinating Women’s Conferences, experiencing the Power of God delivering and moving upon His people.
In her spare time she enjoys traveling, sports, reading and spending time with family: her loving husband, four children and four grandchildren.
